Great atmosphere, cheap drinks, cold beer. Food is just so so. It's typical bar food. On Tuesday nights they teach you how to dance the shag for free from 7-9pm. It's fun to learn. This place is like a typical dive. Don't let the outdated decor fool you. It's a great place

Worst food ever...got the seafood fried platter with a soft shell crab and it tasted like it sat under the heat lamp for hours. It was soggy and it had no taste. Plus my Funky Monkey tasted like syrup. Terrible terrible terrible.

The kind of place that feels like you're at home but on the beach. Pool tables, darts, reasonably priced food and drinks right on the beach. If I was local I would likely visit frequently.

A real local hang out, where everyone knows your name. Very fun and friendly staff, and one of the BEST places to go if you want to learn, or watch Shag Dancing! If you've yet to check out Fat Harolds Beach Club, you really should do it next time you're in the area. It's a one of a kind gem!

Not for the young of heart. Smelled like old balls and GOODWILL. Although, the DJ did try to cater to the younger crowd. That was appreciated. However, the old ball smell was still there, despite our complaints. They are good at what they do.

Good burgers and friendly folks. A place with a lot of history and atmosphere. Happened to be be here on a shag contest nite, so we ate at the bar.

If you Shag dance and have a pulse, you know that the "heartbeat" originates in North Myrtle Beach, SC ... and specifically at the intersection of Main Street and Ocean Drive. Fat Harold's is one of the "Home Clubs" to the Shag, and indeed, is often thought to be "THE Home Club". Folks over at OD's or the Pavilion might disagree ... but you haven't shagged at NMB unless you've made a pilgrimage to Fat Harold's. It has multiple bars and dance floors ... on the smallish size and often crowded ... but that's just the way Shaggers like it! Meet new friends and dance with them! Try to be in town during an SOS Migration! Fun, fun, fun!

We vacation in MB every year and one night a group of us decided to hit the streets. We wondered into Harold's and were surprised that everyone in the place was 65+. We were in our 20's but we stuck around to watch the Shag dancing. I am so glad we did because we had so much fun. We had people left and right teaching us to Shag and we danced the night away. The crowd at Harold's knows how to have fun. Don't let their age deceive you, give it a shot you will treasure the memories and make new friends.

What does one say about "Fat Harold's BeachClub"....well, the words awesome, fun and shagtastic come to mind. A friend and I recently visited Myrtle Beach and were determined to get the "beach music" experience. We were directed to Fat Harold's, which is located in North Myrtle Beach (roughly a $30 cab from central Myrtle Beach). Fat Harold's boasted several large dance floors, a great DJ spinning '60s beach music classics and people of all ages SHAG DANCING. I of course could only think of the hit movie, SHAG, and wondered when "Pudge" would appear with Chip for the big Shag off. You do not need to be stuck in the 60s or 60 years old to love this place. Its feel-good fun and the enthusiasm for the music and dance style is totally infectious. Didn't try the food; but the drinks were pretty standard cost/menu-wise. A tip from me to you? Don't leave without a "I got shagged at Fat Harold's" t-shirt. It is currently the anchor of my wardrobe. I think Pudge would be proud.

4 stars for being an interesting place that's like a museum for "shag" dancing, a Carolina-born tradition, with cheap drinks and friendly service. Quirky design on the inside & out. Lot of stuff to look at for sure. Definitely an older crowd who were all slick dancers. Local patrons were so kind & excitedly gave us demonstrations & history of the dance. Been to a lot of establishments in my time, but never one like this.

Great dancing, friendly people. This seems to be the place where good dancers come. Excellent dance floor, David the DJ plays great music and was really friendly. Live bands on weekends. Drinks are cheap, free parking, and no cover. Shag dancing lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays.

As far as food goes. Its 2 stars at best. Although the burger was decent, its nothing special. Its a bar, with some bar style food thats it.

Was not open for lunch on Tuesday, but we shall return for the shagging in the Shaguar. ...(6 hrs later)...my kind of place inside, dimly lit and big dance floor. Turns out Tuesday nights are special, free shag lessons from 7-9 pm. First a little shag history lesson, then onto learning the steps. I've been shaggin' ever since. If you want to be as cool as me you gotta be able to shag!

I love this place. It honestly looks like a crap hole dive that should be avoided. And it is a crap hole dive. However, the drinks are priced right, the beer is cold. When they have live entertainment it is usually excellent. Here is what earned it a 4 star over a 3. The food. I stopped in just for a few beers and the guys next to me ordered some food. I expected to see some microwave reheated junk come out. Instead they have plates with mountains of clearly fresh made food. I got a Reuben. Was excellent. Came back the next day and got a half pound of fried shrimp to eat with some beer. Amazing! The pile was so big I was worried they gave me and charged me for a pound. They didn't. From the outside it looks like a place to be either avoided or that is a run down crap joint. Inside isn't much better. But all that is what makes it even better. Seriously, stop in for a bite to eat and some beer. You will be surprised.

Do not take children here. Sign on the outside, no weapons inside, pretty much says all that is needed to be said.. can't review it...walked in, then out...quickly.i am sure it is a fine divey establishment. Can't rate on food..but can rate on physical review. Though lots of parking....
